Forget soft relationship advice that tells you to “communicate” or “work it out.” Some men don’t deserve a gentle breakup, a closing conversation, or one more minute of your time. If a man fits into one of these types, don’t break up with him the normal way — ghost him, block his number everywhere, and get away fast.
Stop spending your limited years doing emotional work for men who wouldn’t do the same for you. Stop believing that setting boundaries makes you difficult. Stop making yourself smaller to put up with someone else’s mediocrity. Your peace, your mental health, and your future come first. If he fits into any of these categories, don’t try to fix him, don’t negotiate, and don’t stay.
1. The Unattractive Guy: Don’t Give Him a Chance
Let’s be honest. Society tells women that looks don’t matter, that we should be “generous,” and that giving an unattractive man a chance makes us good people. Meanwhile, men openly say they won’t date a woman they don’t find attractive.
Here’s the truth: you don’t have to manage a man’s insecurities about how he looks. You don’t have to be his confidence boost if he’s not what you want. Attraction matters. It’s not shallow — it’s the foundation of any romantic relationship. Without it, you end up feeling nothing.
If you find a man physically unappealing — his face, body, voice, hygiene, or style bother you — don’t date him. And I don’t mean someone who’s simply not conventionally handsome. I mean a man who makes no effort at all: doesn’t groom himself, doesn’t dress with any care, doesn’t think about how he shows up. That’s a warning sign hiding behind “I don’t care about looks.”
A man who “doesn’t care about looks” often doesn’t care about other things either — your feelings, your time, your standards.
Don’t stay friends with him either. Be honest with yourself: he’s not trying to be your platonic friend. He’s waiting in the background, hoping that once other men let you down, he’ll get his chance. He wants to be your “safe option,” the guy who “really gets you.” Cut him off completely — his friendship isn’t free.
2. The Cheater: Leave Him Today
If a man cheats on you (even once) and you find out, don’t stay. There’s no excuse that makes it okay.
If you stay, be honest with yourself: you are weak. You have zero self-respect, zero self-worth, and no backbone. And here’s the hard part: the cheater knows you’re staying anyway. He thinks you’ll never leave, and he thinks you are dumb. He tells you lies that don’t even make sense, and you go along with them because facing the truth feels too scary.
• You start checking his phone constantly.
• You track his location.
• You replay conversations, looking for hidden meanings.
You’ve turned yourself into a detective in your own relationship. That’s not love — that’s sadomasochism.
What to do:
• Walk away. Today. Not after “talking about it.” Not after giving him a chance to explain.
• If money is keeping you there, plan smart: open a separate account, secure your independence, then go.
• Don’t take him back when he begs, cries, or promises to change. He won’t.
3. The Manipulator: Block Him Everywhere
The manipulator makes you question your own reality like the master gaslighter he is. He tells you that you’re “too sensitive” or “imagining things” when you catch him in a lie. He turns his behavior into your problem, and makes you feel wrong for having real concerns.
He’s not obviously abusive — he’s subtle. He’ll compliment you one moment and criticize you the next, so you never know which version of him you’ll get.
He wants you confused. He will try to isolate you from friends and family. He wants full control over your mind, body and ultimately your soul. Signs to watch for:
Th brain-cell killer. Staying with a liar can wear down your body, not just your mind. Constant stress can show up as headaches, digestive problems, or trouble sleeping. Your nervous system stays on alert because you can’t trust what he says.
The confusion of knowing the truth while hearing his lies can wear down your confidence. You start doubting your own memory and judgment. You become anxious because nothing he says can be taken at face value.
The worst part: he usually doesn’t even have a good reason to lie. He’s not protecting anything important. He lies because it’s easier, because it gives him control.
5. The Violent Man: Ghost Him At all Costs
Whether the violence is verbal or physical, don’t try to be nice and understanding, don’t have a conversation, and don’t look back.
Don’t give a warning. Just go. Disappear. One minute you’re there, and the next, you are gone. It's like hide-and-seek: now you see me, now you don't.
• Learn to physically defend yourself. Double your physical strength and get objects you can use for efficient self defense.
6. The Man-Child: Kick Him Out of Your Life
He’s charming and fun. But he can’t function like an adult. No stable job, no paid bills, crashing on friends’ couches. He expects you to cover rent and utilities.
You end up mothering him — doing his laundry, managing his schedule, reminding him to eat, covering his debts, cleaning up his messes. You’re not in a relationship. You’re running a daycare for a grown man.
He’ll promise to do things. But he won’t. He loves to be provided for and not having to live an « adult life ». This is the path straight to bitterness and being used as a stepping stone. Let him go. He’s not your project to fix.
Choose Self-Love and Self Respect
You’re done wasting your time, energy, and youth on men who bring nothing but disrespect and disappointment.
You can recover money. You can rebuild a career. You can meet someone else. But you don’t get your twenties, thirties, forties — or any of your years — back.
Block the numbers. Ghost. Move on. Respect your boundaries. Protect your peace. Your future self will thank you.
